The story

Alex Bouaziz and Shuo Wang met at MIT and experienced how painful it was to hire international team members. Deel, which went through Y Combinator in early 2019, handled contracts, payroll and compliance for workers anywhere.

When the pandemic made remote work normal in 2020, demand exploded. In April 2021, a $156 million Series C led by YC Continuity valued Deel at $1.25 billion.
